NHS & private care under one roof

NHS dental care

We are proud to provide NHS dental care in Ystradgynlais under the NHS Wales care-package system.

NHS Wales

Under NHS Wales, dental treatment is grouped into care packages. Paying patients contribute 50% of the package fee — the NHS covers the rest. If you are entitled to free NHS dental treatment, you pay nothing.

Your total NHS charge is capped at £384 for a course of treatment, or multiple courses delivered at the same time. Some laboratory charges are payable separately. We will explain the cost of your individual treatment plan before treatment.

NHS dental examinations are free if you are under 25 or aged 60 or over. Further treatment, including X-rays or preventive plaque removal, may incur the recall charge unless you are exempt.

Charges checked on 2 October 2026. See Welsh Government guidance on NHS dental charges and exemptions for current details.

Children are seen free on the NHS

Children do not pay NHS dental charges — their assessments and care are fully funded by the NHS. We welcome children of all ages, from their very first visit.

Could your treatment be free?

You may be entitled to free NHS dental treatment — for example if you are under 18, aged 18 and in full-time education, pregnant or have had a baby in the last 12 months, receive certain income-related benefits, or hold a valid HC2 certificate. Please bring proof of your exemption to your appointment, and ask our reception team if you are unsure.

New NHS patients

New NHS patients in Wales join through the NHS Wales Dental Access Portal, not by contacting the practice directly. Register on the portal with your NHS number and date of birth and the health board will allocate you a practice. Apply on the NHS Wales Dental Access Portal.
